King’s Business and Economics Students Compete in the QuBEc Cup

On Wednesday 26th June the Economics and Business Department took nine students to the inaugural QuBEc Cup Competition at Queen’s College Taunton. This University Challenge style event saw teams of three students going head-to-head with teams from other schools. All three King’s teams did incredibly well: economics team one (James Banner – captain, Isaac Haywood and Matt Lewis) just missed out on the play-off round; economics team two (William Banner – captain, Daniel Stobbs and Alex Bower) unfortunately missed out on a semi-final place by the narrowest of margins. The business team, (Nancy Marsh – captain, Tomas Bartram and Emily Murray) made it to a nail-biting semi-final against Colston’s School where they lost by just ten points. The day was a huge success and enabled the students to broaden their understanding of their subjects in a fun and competitive way.
