A Bright Future for King’s Tennis

On Saturday 12th May Milly and Lucy Short took on the U16 Pairs County Cup tennis tournament. They played some fantastic tennis during a tough morning and made it through to the final, in which nerves got the better of them and they finished runners up. Ollie Whiteside and Thomas Edwards took part in the U14 Pairs County Cup. As Lower Fourths, they were young in the category but they rose to the challenge and started with a 4-1 win against The Elms. They put in some great performances, and played some very promising tennis. On Sunday, Milly and Lucy Short, Megan Sweeney and Ollie Whiteside played in the singles. They all had tough games in the first round, coming up against Sixth Formers from several local schools. Nonetheless they all fought valiantly and all lost narrowly; Meg’s game went to a Championship tie break, which she eventually lost 11-9. This superb effort from all four players in a tough competition suggests a bright future for tennis at King’s.
