CCF Cadets Earn Prestigious 4-Star Qualifications During Half-Term Training Courses

During the recent half-term break, cadets Joseph R and Dan Arridge took part in national-level training courses, designed to elevate their skills and leadership within the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). Each cadet participated in an intensive programme that culminated in achieving the coveted 4-Star qualification, awarded through the Army Cadet Syllabus. Their training courses included specialised instruction, field exercises, and practical leadership opportunities.

Joseph R: Senior Cadet Instructors Course

Joseph R attended the Senior Cadet Instructors Course, a national CCF programme specifically for senior cadets, during the half-term break. Last week, he participated in the Senior Cadets Instructors Cadre at Chilwell Barracks in Nottingham. The course, packed with sessions and assessed lessons, was a valuable experience for Roberts, who found the training to be a useful extension of his previous Cadet Force Instructional Technique training.

“This course taught us instructional techniques that further built upon our Cadet Force Instructional Technique training,” Joseph shared. “The week was packed with taught sessions and assessed lessons, social activities in the evenings, and ended with a one-night field exercise at Beckingham Training Camp.” Roberts completed the course with a new 4-Star qualification, a significant achievement within the Army Cadet Syllabus.

Dan A: Cadet Infantry Battle Course

Dan A, meanwhile, attended the Cadet Infantry Battle Course (CIBC) for senior cadets during the half-term holidays. His training took place at Donnington Barracks, where the first two days involved a revision of 3-Star fieldcraft skills, alongside learning various orders and protocols, including crucial first-aid techniques under fire.

“In the second week of half-term, I attended a Cadet Infantry Battle Course at Donnington Barracks. Over the first two days, we did some revision of 3-Star fieldcraft and learned about different types of orders, along with the processes to follow for first aid while under fire,” said Arridge. The following four days were spent in the field at Nesscliffe and Swynnerton, where cadets undertook section and platoon attacks, a recce patrol, and an ambush. “During this, we were put into different command appointments. I had the chance to give the orders for the recce patrol, command a section attack, and serve as the 2IC during three attacks at both the section and platoon levels.”

Dan’s training culminated in his achievement of a 4-Star fieldcraft qualification, marking a successful week of challenging yet rewarding experience.

Both Joseph and Dan exemplify the skills and dedication that are nurtured within the CCF, demonstrating leadership and adaptability under demanding conditions. These achievements not only reflect their commitment to the cadet programme but also highlight the high standards of training provided by the CCF, aimed at developing capable young leaders.
