County and Cup Triumphs for Hockey and Netball Teams

This week has been one of triumph for the girls’ hockey and netball teams, with impressive performances in both county competitions and cup fixtures. The teams showcased their talent, teamwork, and determination, securing key victories and progressing to the next rounds of several major tournaments.

U13A Hockey Team Storm Into Next Round of Independent Schools’ Cup

On Friday, 4th October, the U13A hockey team travelled to Solihull for the second round of the Independent Schools’ Cup, delivering a masterclass in teamwork and skill. The girls secured a resounding 8-0 victory, which sees them through to the next round, where they will face King’s School Macclesfield at home on Thursday, 17th October.

Cup Victories for U14A and U15A Teams

The hockey success continued over the weekend with the U14A and U15A teams facing Wrekin. Both teams displayed excellent tactical play and resilience, with the U15s clinching a 2-1 win and the U14s securing a solid 3-0 victory. These results reflect the strength of the teams as they continue their respective cup campaigns.

1st Team Advance in England Hockey Cup

Facing challenging weather conditions in their cup fixture against Malvern, the 1st team made an impressive start, scoring early through Martha B. and continuing to press for more. By half-time, the score was 2-1, but the girls responded superbly after the break, adding four more goals, including a hat-trick from captain Ruby C. and a brace from Hermione P. Malvern managed two late consolation goals, but the girls secured a well-deserved 6-3 victory and advanced to the next round of the England Hockey Cup.

 

U16s Battle Hard in England Hockey Cup Match Against RGS

The U16 Hockey Team, composed of pupils from both UR and FF, travelled to RGS for the second round of the England Hockey U16 Cup. The team displayed excellent defensive strength, with Henri V making crucial saves. Despite their efforts, RGS scored two short corners, resulting in a 2-0 loss. However, the girls’ work rate and determination were admirable throughout the match.

U14 Netballers Secure Place in County Finals

Alongside the hockey successes, the U14 netball team delivered outstanding performances at the Worcester City District Netball Tournament. The girls played with patience and precision, winning all four of their matches and securing a place in the County Finals on 7th November.
