Current and Former King’s Pupils and Staff Perform at the Royal Albert Hall

King’s Upper Sixth Former Hollie Avery, Old Vigornian Penny Ashmore, King’s singing teacher Claire Prewer-Jenkinson and Jane Stevenson gave the opening performance to a packed audience at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 11th May, with the British Police Symphony Orchestra at their thirtieth anniversary gala concert. They performed Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries from his opera cycle The Ring accompanied by the superb and large orchestra. Hollie said ‘I was overwhelmed by the sensation of performing at the Royal Albert Hall. The experience of dressing rooms, all day rehearsals and meeting celebrities almost made me forget I was singing there! It was an honour and I am very grateful to my singing teacher for this opportunity’.

The concert was hosted by TV personality Nick Knowles and included a large range of choral and orchestral works including the finale to Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand and lots of other popular orchestral and choral works. You can watch a short clip of the performance below.
