Finding Life on Other Planets

Pupils had the opportunity to explore the possibilities for life across the Universe this week (on Wednesday 20th November) with an interactive lunchtime careers talk on Astrobiology.

Dr Sarah Gretton, Natural Sciences (Life and Physical Sciences) Programme Director at University of Leicester delivered the session via an interactive live webinar to encourage pupils to consider key questions, such as What do we need for life?” and “If life exists how do we detect it?”.

Dr Gretton also discussed how the Drake equation attempts to address the question of detecting intelligent life in the Universe.

The talk provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils interested in Astrobiology to hear from a professional in the industry and discover more about the scientific advances taking place at the intersection between scientific disciplines.
