First Team Netballers Triumph at Elite Pre-Season Tournament

King’s 1st team netball squad enjoyed a fantastic start to the season after winning a prestigious pre-season tournament held at Rugby School.

With a very high standard of opposition from leading independent schools, the girls rose brilliantly to the challenge, showcasing outstanding skill, determination and unity throughout the day.

Competing against largely unfamiliar teams, the tournament provided an invaluable opportunity to learn, adapt and test new combinations in a competitive environment. King’s handled this superbly, going unbeaten across all fixtures and demonstrating composure and consistency in every match.

Group Stage Results

Oundle – Won 9–3
Repton – Won 13–6
Rugby – Won 11–7
St Edward’s – Won 16–6

Entering the knockout stages with confidence and momentum, King’s continued to control their performance levels.

Semi-Final: King’s vs Princethorpe – Won 11–5

Final: King’s vs Stamford – Won 10–9

The final proved a thrilling contest, with both sides showing exceptional quality. King’s demonstrated resilience, discipline and calm decision-making to edge a tense match 10–9 and secure the title.

Across the day, the team impressed not only with their attacking flair and smart decision-making, but also with their disciplined defensive work, ensuring every player contributed to the collective effort. The squad adapted brilliantly to different combinations and situations, learning valuable lessons about maintaining momentum in closely fought games.

Perhaps most importantly, there was an outstanding team spirit. The girls repeatedly spoke about the positive “aura” within the group – supportive, encouraging and united. It was a superb bonding experience and set an exciting tone for the season ahead.

Congratulations to all involved – we are incredibly proud of the their performance, attitude and achievement. This is an excellent benchmark to build from, and we look forward to seeing what this talented team can achieve next.
