Geography Students Enjoy a Trip to Bristol

On Wednesday 23rd October, 140 Lower Remove pupils spent the day in Bristol with the Geography Department. Activities included interviewing members of the public, carrying out land use and environmental quality surveys, and investigating how the Harbour area of Bristol has been regenerated.

A visit to the M Shed museum and a boat tour of the harbour gave pupils a historical context emphasising the significance of past trade and the role of globalisation. As well as being able to practise different fieldwork techniques, pupils were able to relate their experience to recent classroom studies, which have focussed on planning conflicts in cities.
