Match Report: King’s School Worcester 1st XI vs Repton School 1st XI
National 100 Cup, Round 2
King’s School Worcester 1st XI secured a dominant 10-wicket victory over Repton School 1st XI in Round 2 of the National 100 Cup, progressing to the last 16 with a clinical all-round performance.
Repton won the toss and opted to bat first, but were immediately put under pressure by an outstanding opening spell from Phoebe B. She began the innings with a maiden set, conceding no runs off her first five deliveries. Phoebe continued to apply pressure in her second set, claiming a key breakthrough with an LBW dismissal for 0, breaking the opening partnership and setting the tone for the King’s bowling unit.
King’s maintained tight lines and sharp fielding throughout the early stages of the innings, preventing Repton from settling into a rhythm. Although Repton began to build a steady score and applied some pressure midway through their innings, the momentum swung decisively in King’s favour in the 11th set. Sophie S-G bowled their number three batter for 32, a crucial wicket that stalled Repton’s progress.
This was swiftly followed by a moment of brilliance from Hermione P, who effected a direct-hit run-out off her own bowling to dismiss the incoming batter. These two quick wickets rattled Repton, who then struggled to rotate the strike effectively under mounting pressure.
Sophie continued her fine spell, removing the set opener for 44 to further dent Repton’s hopes of a strong finish. King’s bowlers remained disciplined and composed, restricting Repton to 110/6 from their 100 balls—a total that reflected the persistent pressure applied throughout the innings.
In response, King’s openers Bryony G and Tilly M delivered a masterclass in controlled, aggressive batting. The pair chased down the target with ease, putting on an unbeaten 113-run stand in just 59 balls to seal an emphatic 10-wicket win.
With this victory, King’s School Worcester 1st XI advance to the last 16 of the National 100 Cup, where they will face Denstone College in the next round.
