Kings Begin County Cup Campaign with Dominant Win in Evesham

The King’s Under-18 football team began their quest to retain the County Under-18’s Cup with a resounding 8-1 victory away at The De Montfort School in Evesham.

Despite a slow start to the season, a tactical shift from the coach gave King’s fresh momentum, allowing them to press hard against the home defence from the outset.

After several chances were either missed or saved by the goalkeeper in the opening minutes, King’s took the lead in the tenth minute with a confident finish by Zach M. The lead was extended in the 17th minute, with George T. scoring a fine header from a well-placed corner by Zach M

Evesham managed to pull one back when a heavily deflected free-kick sailed over Kings’ goalkeeper, Olly S., making it 2-1. However, Kings soon restored their two-goal lead with a deflected shot from Toby C. that found the back of the net, taking them into half-time with a 3-1 advantage.

In the second half, King’s quickly settled into their rhythm, adding two more goals. Leo C. converted a penalty, and Louis L. embarked on an impressive solo run from the halfway line to finish neatly in the bottom corner. Despite three substitutions, King’s maintained their momentum, with further goals from Eddie C., George T. (his second), and Sunny B., bringing the final score to 8-1.

The next match in their cup defence is scheduled for Wednesday, 20th November, at home against Christopher Whitehead High School.
