King’s Crews Excel at Worcester Spring Regatta

On Saturday, 60 crews represented King’s at the Worcester Spring Regatta on their home water, delivering a day of exciting and competitive racing. Competitors ranged from Year Nine to Upper Sixth, with strong opposition coming from schools across the region, as well as Oxfordshire and Bath.

The event saw many King’s crews progress to finals, including several all-King’s races, reflecting the depth of talent across the age groups.

Fresh from success at Shrewsbury Regatta, the younger rowers embraced the challenges of side-by-side river racing with all the challenges of a river course, winning several events and gaining valuable experience.

Highlights included a thrilling boys coxed four race against Monkton Combe, which ended in a dead heat before King’s took victory in a re-row. The senior girls four mirrored this success in their event, which is great preparation for the National Schools’ Regatta. Amelia and Rebecca won their women’s pair and will also race at the National Schools’ Regatta, while Jack D was able to win both his sculling events, combining with Harry M in the double, as they look forward their quad scull event.

The Lower Sixth and Fifth Form boys quad sculls also won as they prepare for this weekend. In the Upper Remove, Florence won her single scull, while Grace and Issy won the doubles title as they look forward to racing in the quad sculls at Nottingham on Friday.
