King’s Football Teams Show Resilience in Local Derby Fixtures

Challenge Cup: 1st XI vs RGS

Kings 1st XI football team put up a courageous effort in their Challenge Cup match on Tuesday. Despite the 4-0 scoreline, the team displayed resilience, determination and great sportsmanship.

The game began with King’s working hard to find their rhythm. However, RGS capitalised on some early errors with their first goal.

Despite losing a player to injury following a robust challenge, King’s pushed forward and narrowly missed an equaliser with a well-struck shot that went just wide of the post. RGS went on to score another goal shortly before the half time whistle.

King’s made tactical changes to the team, in search of a comeback in the second half. They showed great teamwork and fighting spirit, but unfortunately conceded two further goals.

Despite the final result, the match provided valuable experience, and the team will take key lessons into their next challenge – the U18 County Cup Semi-Final. As reigning champions, they will be determined to bounce back and defend their title.

Thank you to all the boys for your continued dedication, to Sixways Stadium for hosting us and to our fantastic spectators who came along to show their support.

U15A v RGS

The U15A team faced RGS on Thursday afternoon in a competitive fixture that ended in a frustrating 2-2 draw.

The boys started brightly, linking up well through Angus, Mike, and Sam K, with Sam producing a moment of magic, smashing the ball over the keeper from 40 yards—a stunning strike and a clear contender for goal of the term!

Despite the strong start, the game became scrappy, and the team struggled to control possession and play their usual passing football. However, they remained on top, and just before half-time, Oli won a crucial ball in midfield, feeding Angus, who played a perfect through ball to Henry.

Using his strength, pace, and composure, Henry slotted the ball into the side netting, putting the boys 2-0 up at the break. Missing Ryan and Barney due to injury was a big loss but Oli, Orey and Sam stepped up a played well in the centre of midfield. Mike also did a brilliant job upfront, working tirelessly to press the opposition defenders.

However, as has been the case in previous games, the team struggled to see out the match, losing key 50/50 battles in the latter stages. This allowed RGS to capitalise, scoring two soft goals to bring the game level.

A frustrating result after a strong start, but plenty to take forward. Sam K was deservedly named Player of the Match for his outstanding goal and overall performance.
