King’s girls shine on the river in the Autumn Sun

The Boat Club fielded a large team at the annual Monmouth Autumn Head races. We were greeted with glorious autumn weather, fast conditions and tough competition. The Fifth Form (Year 11) and Sixth Form girls dominated the sculling discipline, taking wins in the single, double and quad scull events. The Sixth Form girls’ performance in the quadruple scull was the highlight of the day, when they stormed home to record a time as the fastest women’s crew of the day, securing a pennant for the school. The boys also excelled in many events, claiming many second and third places and only missing out by the narrowest of margins.

The gold medal winning crews were: the Fifth Form Single Sculls of Nemi Edwards and Emily Havercroft; Fifth Form Double Scull of Jemima Moss and Libby Griffiths-Garbett; Fifth Form Quadruple Scull of Liberty Colebourne, Emily Havercroft, Caitlyn Hawkesford-Johnson and Jemima Thrush; Sixth Form Single Scull – Sophie Lee; Sixth Form From Double Scull of Heloise Brown and Abi Watson and the Sixth Form Quadruple Scull of Sophie Lee, Emily Timm, Bea Evans and Alice Evans.
