It has been another busy week for the Hockey teams, with RGS matches every day. By the end of the week, over 150 girls will have represented the School in 13 fixtures, a fantastic display of the strength and depth of the Hockey teams throughout the age groups.
These fixtures, at the end of the term, are an excellent way for the girls to showcase their progress throughout the season, progress which has been most marked this year. The U14A and B team had very competitive fixtures, with the A team drawing 1-1 and the B team winning 2-0. Both teams responded very well to feedback at half time and were able to increase the intensity and quality of their performance in the second half. It was a privilege to see the U13s implement the principles they have been working on all season. Their confidence to carry out from the back and show composure on the ball across the pitch was testament to their hard work. Although results may not have gone their way, all the girls can be proud of their performances and how close every game was. The A team lost 2-0, B team drew 1-1, C team lost 2-1 and D team lost 1-0. The seniors took to the pitch on Wednesday with the 1st team playing away and the 2nd team playing at home.
Both teams have made significant progress since the start of the season and are playing some impressive Hockey. The 2nd team controlled the game with plenty of possession and scored their deserved goal to win the game 1-0. The 1st team were in full flow throughout the game, outletting with confidence and creating good attacking opportunities. A well-taken individual goal and then a fantastic team goal were enough to give them a 2-1 victory. We look forward to seeing the performance of the U15s and U12A-D teams in the remaining fixtures this week. Well done to every girl who has been involved in a fantastic term of hockey: there has been so much progress on show and we look forward to going again after the Christmas break.
