King’s Rowers Win Silver Medal at Junior Inter-Regional Regatta

Congratulations to Fifth Form (Year 11) girls Liberty Colebourne and Emily Havercroft, who competed in the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta, at the National Water sports Centre in Nottingham on Saturday the 21st of April. Previously wining the West Midlands Regional Championship meant the girls qualified to represent the West Midlands in the J16 girls’ double.

The first race of the day was the heat in which the girls put in a very impressive effort and managed to finish third fastest, which put them in the A final later in the day. With a very high standard of rowing from all competitors it was clear they would have a tough final ahead. Luckily the weather remained good and the final proved to be a very exciting race, with all the crews being very closely matched. The race came down to a photo finish, with four crews all fighting for first, second and third. The King’s girls were strong enough to fight them off and finish in a very impressive silver medal place.

This means the girls are ranked second best in the country, which will make for some very exciting races in events to come.
