King’s Sixth Formers Shine on the National Sporting Stage
Four outstanding sixth formers from King’s School are earning national recognition across cricket and rugby, proudly representing England and elite development squads in their respective sports, all whilst studying for their A Level exams.
Phoebe B – ECB Women’s Development XI Cricketer and Warwickshire Bears 1st Team
Phoebe, now 17, is continuing her remarkable rise through the England Women’s cricket pathway. A key member of England’s U19 squad at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, she has since been selected for the ECB Women’s Development XI – a group of elite players identified as potential future internationals.
Earlier this month, Phoebe featured in a high-profile match against the West Indies Women’s senior team, who were preparing for their England tour. She was also selected for the squad to face New Zealand A. Competing at this level not only reflects her talent but also the trust England selectors are placing in her as one of the country’s brightest young cricketers.
This summer, she has signed a short-term professional contract with the Warwickshire Bears. She will be playing for the club during the school holidays before returning to Sixth Form in the autumn to continue her A Levels.
In her debut match for the Bears, she bowled four overs and took two wickets.
Bryony G – ECB Women’s Development XI Cricketer and Worcester Rapids 1st Team
Bryony, 17, is celebrating her first call-up for the ECB Women’s Development XI. She will spend two weeks over the summer at a development training camp at Loughborough University, which will include matches against Scotland A Women during the second week. Bryony has also been making regular appearances for the Worcester Rapids Women’s 1st team, as well as representing the Warwickshire Women’s Academy.
Bryony, a former Hawfordian, has played a key role in King’s cricket for a number of years, and has been instrumental in the 1st XV’s success this season. Alongside cricket, Bryony is an exceptional hockey player and has previously been selected into the U16 England hockey squad as well as playing in the school’s 1st XI team.
Seth E – England Young Lions Cricketer
At just 16, Seth continues to turn heads in English cricket. After making his debut for England U19s last summer as a 15-year-old against Scotland and Ireland, Seth narrowly missed out on full selection over the winter. However, he was recently chosen for the England Young Lions Invitational XI – a second-string national U19 team – for a series involving both the full England U19s and India U19s sides.
The matches, which took place at the end of June, saw Seth keeping wicket and batting against England U19s, and then featuring as a batter against India. Impressively, the Young Lions secured victory over the full U19 squad before falling to a strong India side featuring 14-year-old IPL player, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, one of world cricket’s most exciting prospects. Seth’s ability to compete at this level highlights his exceptional potential as a future England star.

It’s not just cricket where King’s students are making an impact. Henry H, a rising rugby star, has been named in the preliminary England squad for the South Africa Summer Series, which will be held in Cape Town from 3rd – 19th August 2025.
In preparation for the prestigious tour, Henry has also been invited to a pre-tour training camp at Loughborough University on 24 – 25 July. His inclusion reflects months of standout performances in school and regional rugby, catching the eye of England age-grade selectors. This opportunity will provide him with invaluable international experience and development in one of the most competitive rugby environments in the world.
The achievements of Seth, Phoebe, Bryony and Henry underline the strength and breadth of King’s School’s sporting programme. Whether on the cricket pitch or rugby field, these students exemplify what can be achieved through hard work, talent, and commitment. The entire King’s community is proud of their accomplishments and excited to see what comes next in their promising careers.
