Congratulations Lower Sixth student Christina DS, who has been invited to England Rugby U18 Training Camps this summer.
Through Christina’s performances at her Centre of Excellence, both during training and at the festivals, she has been selected to attend the Training Camps. The standard of players at these events was exceedingly high, so selection for the camps was going to be very tough.
Christina says of her achievements, “I am delighted to be selected to attend the England U18 Training Camps this summer. I am glad to see the fruition of my hard work during training at my club, Old Halesonians, and the extra hours I put in to improve my Strength and Conditioning and my technical play pay off. I am excited to attend the Training Camps and I am aspiring to be selected into the England U18 squad at the end of the process!”
This season the England U18s will be involved in a Training Camp in August, October and November and then play an internal game in December.
46 players will be invited to play in this fixture, then following the December game the England U18 squad will be selected for January camps onwards and this will be made up of between 30 and 35 players.
The four main psychosocial attributes that they are looking for in the England U18s are Self Awareness, High Personal Standards, Focus on Mastery and Performance and Engaged in Own Learning and Development.
Foundation Director of Sport, Mr Mason adds, “It is always a fantastic achievement to reach this level in the game. It is a testament to hard work and dedication from Christina and we wish her all the best in the Training Camps this summer.”
Congratulations to Christina on her amazing achievements and we wish her the best of luck in the near future as she attends the Training Camps!
