King’s Student Seth Earns First England Cricket U19 Call-Up After Outstanding Season

Lower Sixth student Seth E, has earned his first England Under-19 call-up at the age of 16, for the 50 Over Tri-Series against Scotland and Ireland at Loughborough later this month.

Seth has been a member of Worcestershire’s Academy for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons and has shown consistent progress throughout. Earlier this year, he was selected for both the ECB Bunbury Festival and the Super Fours, showcasing his development and potential as a talented cricketer.

In addition to his Academy performances, Seth made his debut for Worcestershire Seconds at just 15 last summer, playing against the South Asian Cricket Academy. This season, he has further cemented his place in the Seconds team, appearing in three Championship matches and six T20 games. Just last week, Seth came close to scoring his maiden Seconds century, falling just two runs short in a Championship fixture against Middlesex at Radlett.

Seth also plays for Ombersley in the Birmingham and District Premier League, where he continues to develop his skills in a highly competitive environment. His selection for the Tri-Series represents a valuable opportunity for him to stake an early claim for consideration for the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Director of Cricket, Mr Greenall said “This is an amazing achievement for Seth, fully deserved for all his hard work and commitment. We could not be prouder and wish him all the best”.

Worcestershire Assistant Coach Richard Jones, who oversees the Seconds, expressed his admiration for Seth’s achievements. He noted that few 16-year-olds have earned a spot in the Under-19 squad, but Seth’s talent and hard work have made him stand out. Jones commented that England are focusing on younger players with the 2025 Under-19 World Cup in mind, and Seth’s inclusion in the squad is a testament to his potential.

Coach Jones has followed Seth’s progress closely over the past couple of years and praised his all-round maturity. He remarked on how Seth’s strong fundamentals, particularly as a 15-year-old, allowed him to compete successfully against more experienced bowlers. According to Jones, Seth has consistently performed well for the Academy, impressing with both his explosive batting and his development as a wicketkeeper.
Jones also highlighted Seth’s ability to handle pressure, noting how he has carried himself with confidence without arrogance, a trait that makes him a likeable and grounded player. Jones emphasized that while Seth has areas of his game that need further development, he has the potential for a bright future in cricket.

Seth’s recent performances in the Seconds have been impressive, and his near-century against Middlesex was just one of many eye-catching innings. His natural skill as a wicketkeeper is also developing well, and with continued hard work, Seth looks set to become an integral part of Worcestershire’s future plans.

As he prepares for the Tri-Series, Seth remains focused on continuing to improve his game, knowing that there are exciting opportunities ahead, including overseas tours with the Under-19s and the possibility of competing in future World Cups.
