Mathematics News: Royal Institute of Mathematics Masterclasses

A group of budding Lower Remove (Year 9) mathematicians have been attending a series of Royal Institute of Mathematics masterclasses organised by the University of Worcester which have taken place on Saturday mornings. The masterclasses have involved workshops and activities on number theory, society, ciphers, virus spread and hurricanes and earthquakes. The final session, delivered by Tamla Bowdler, a Senior Strategy Manager for Cisco Systems, raised the question, ‘Business Decision Making – Art or Science?’ The four lucky mathematicians were Cerys Osborn, Jamie Elsdon, Jack Barclay and Luke Beever.
