U14 & U16 Netballers Crowned County Champions

Over the last week, both our U14 and U16 netball teams have qualified through to the Regional Tournament to be played on the Saturday 30th January 2022, with both teams becoming the County Champions!

Both teams played some fantastic netball and it is great to see the U14s and U16s progress through to the next round. It has been exciting to see so much success so far this term in girls’ games!

The U14s played away on the 11th at Bromsgrove School, having previously qualified through winning the District tournament. This is an amazing achievement from the team as they left it to extra time in the final but succeeded in the end, being crowned County Champions.

The U16 team triumphed by winning the tournament with an aggregate score of 90-10 in a total time of 70 minutes, thrashing their opponents over the five games. In their pool they played Dodderhill, Hanley Castle and Stourport, winning 17-1, 23-2 and 17-2 respectively. Having won their group stage comfortably, they played The Royal Grammar School Worcester in the semi-finals, winning convincingly 19-1. Facing Bromsgrove in the final, the girls put in an excellent performance to end the tournament, winning 14-4. Their success throughout the evening was due to the superb display of teamwork, allowing them to progress to the next round. This year the U16s are a strong squad, with every squad member involved in Severn Stars Nova Academy, training twice a week at either KSW or RGS.

This week the U19 team are playing in their County Tournament and are hoping to qualify through to the Regionals.

We wish the girls the best of luck in the Regionals, and to the U19s playing this week. We hope to see all three teams in action in January!
