Seb Clinches First International Gold in Taekwondo
We are thrilled to celebrate Fifth Form pupil Seb H’s outstanding achievement in Taekwondo at the ITA Irish Cup in Limerick on Saturday.
Competing in a massive field of 1,426 athletes, Seb emerged as the Male 14–17 Years Blue Belt Patterns Champion, marking his first-ever international gold medal – a truly special milestone in his Taekwondo journey.
In addition to his remarkable success in patterns, Seb also performed strongly in Sparring and Special Technique, securing 5th place in both events. With around 20 competitors in his category, multiple intense rounds were required to reach the podium, highlighting the dedication and skill necessary to achieve at this level.
Seb’s achievement extends beyond his personal performance. On day two of the competition, he took on the role of sole coach for the junior team, as no adult coaches were permitted. Managing multiple events across different mats, Seb demonstrated exceptional composure, leadership, and clarity, guiding and supporting his teammates with confidence and skill.
This competition adds to an impressive season for Seb, building on previous successes:
- T-UK British Open Championships – Gold in Sparring, Silver in Patterns
- L.T.S.I English Open – Gold in Patterns (Sparring not contested due to injury)
Looking ahead, Seb is now focused on preparing for the International World Cup in Spain, September 2026, aiming to continue his impressive run on the international stage.
We are incredibly proud of Seb’s achievements, his dedication, and the leadership he has shown both on and off the mat. This is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion he brings to Taekwondo.
