U13s Secure Midlands Hockey Championship Following Flawless Performance
King’s U13 hockey team delivered a flawless performance at the Midlands In2hockey Regional Finals, soring 19 goals scored and conceding none, to become champions and secure their place at the National Finals in May.
The tournament at Nottingham Hockey Centre began with a strong opening match against Solihull School, where the team set the tone with a commanding 3-0 victory. With only a short break to reset and change pitches, the girls continued their fine form against Wellingborough School, demonstrating excellent passing and composure in front of goal to win 4-0.
Momentum continued to build in the third pool game, as the team dominated Nottingham High School with a 5-0 triumph. The final pool match against Denstone saw relentless attacking play, securing a 2-0 win and confirming King’s Worcester as group winners.
In the semi-final against Bromsgrove School, the girls maintained their impressive goal-scoring streak and defensive resilience, winning 3-0 to book a place in the finals.
The first final against Repton was a thrilling and hard-fought encounter. Both teams displayed excellent hockey, but King’s held firm thanks to some outstanding goalkeeping from Issie and a crucial last-minute clearance from Robyn in a defending short corner. A single goal proved decisive, sealing a 1-0 victory.
The final match of the day against Princethorpe was another tense contest, with the team showing determination and teamwork to secure another 1-0 win—securing the Midlands U13 Championship and a place at the National Finals.
Huge congratulations to all the players for their outstanding performances, and best of luck in the National Finals in May!
