U18 Hockey Team Qualify for Next Stage of County Competitions

Congratulations to the U18 Hockey Team who have qualified for the next stage of the county competitions following a successful county tournament at the Chase School on Wednesday (2nd October).

So far this season, the team has been improving rapidly in matches and despite playing some spectacular hockey have been very unlucky not to have a victory leading into this tournament. Their first game versus The Chase School was a closely contested game with lots of action at both ends. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to convert their opportunities in attack and conceded two break away goals to lose 2-0.
With two places available to progress to the next round, the girls knew that they had to win their next match versus Prince Henry’s. The team went out with determination to maintain their high standard of play on a crowded pitch and get the job done. With a lot of pressure on the oppositions defence, Emily M put a strong shot towards goal from a narrow angle to give the King’s team their first goal of the season. With newfound confidence that they could convert their opportunities, the team went from strength to strength and into the second half another goal came from Izzy M in the second wave in a penalty corner.

Well done to all involved. We look forward to the next stage of the competition.
