Upper Sixth Leavers Challenge Staff in Netball and Hockey
The annual Upper Sixth Leavers fixtures against King’s staff took place this week.
Participants and supporters alike embraced the games with much excitement and a healthy sense of rivalry, along with plenty of sunshine, smiles, ice creams and music.
Staff vs. Upper Sixth Leavers Hockey
The annual staff vs leavers hockey fixture was a brilliant match played in great spirit, full of good humour and competitive energy. Both teams gave it their all, with some excellent goals scored. In the end, the teachers just edged the victory, with a final score of 3-2.
A huge thank you to the U6th for their dedication to hockey throughout their time at King’s – your commitment and passion have been invaluable.
Staff vs. Upper Sixth Netball
With 13 Upper Sixth students and 19 members of staff, this fixture was split into two games, each consisting of four, ten-minute quarters. The Upper Sixth students took early leads in both games, as the staff teams struggled to convert goals. Changes in the staff teams meant goals started to accumulate, with centre passes quick to go to goal. Upper Sixth played consistently throughout, showing great athleticism and commitment. They were especially impressive reacting to loose balls and converting them to goal opportunities.
Both games were nail-biters, ending in very tight scorelines; one at 23-23 and the other 24-25.
Congratulations to our Upper Sixth students, who won overall 48-47.
Thank you to U6 for their commitment to netball and school sport over their Kings journey.
