Victory for King’s Under Fifteen Rugby Sevens Team

Sunday 11th March saw the under fifteens rugby team crowned champions of our annual sevens tournament.

Following strong performances at Warwick and Sollihull the team entered this tournament full of confidence. The boys finished top of their group with victories over KES Birmingham, Sir Thomas Rich’s School, Warwick School, Old Swinford Hospital and Ellesmere. Some exquisite running rugby was played throughout the group games, which was a pleasure to watch, but undoubtedly the performance of the tournament came against a very strong Bradford Grammar in the final.

The under fifteens played some near perfect sevens rugby in the first half, keeping hold of the ball superbly and constantly looking at ease in possession. However, a lapse in concentration saw the visitors take a 7-5 lead into the break. Skill level, fitness and excellent game management in the second half proved too much for Bradford to cope with and two more tries saw us put the game out of reach and the game eventually finished 19-7. Congratulations to the under fifteen team on an excellent tournament.
